A Legacy of Leadership
The Mankessim Traditional Area is historically significant as the spiritual and cultural capital of the Fante people. Nana Hemaa Ama Amissah III continues this legacy as the Paramount Queenmother, a role she has fulfilled with exceptional dedication since 1994.
The Queenmother’s Vision
Nana Hemaa’s vision is to create a unified, prosperous, and culturally vibrant Mankessim. She is committed to addressing critical challenges such as gender inequality, education accessibility, and environmental degradation. Through her leadership, she aims to empower the community while preserving its heritage.
Achievements and Roles
As President of the Central Regional Queen Mothers’ Platform, Nana Hemaa has expanded the membership from six to over 250 gazetted queen mothers. She is also a global advocate for gender equity and peace, serving as the Third Vice President of the United Nations Association – Ghana.
Cultural Custodian
The Queenmother serves as the custodian of Mankessim’s culture, overseeing the Oguaa Festival, traditional rites, and cultural education initiatives. Her leadership ensures that the younger generation understands and cherishes their cultural roots.
